NU BGSA Graduate Research Conference

The Audacity of Excellence: Breaking Boundaries Through Scholarship and Service

April 17th-18th, 2009

On behalf of the Thirteenth Annual Black Graduate Student Association conference organizing committee, we would like to invite you to “The Audacity of Excellence: Breaking Boundaries Through Scholarship and Service.”

This year, we are honored to have Dr. Farah Jasmine Griffin, Professor of English and Comparative Literature and African-American Studies at Columbia University. Dr. Griffin is revered for her work on Jazz, African-American Literature, and Black Women's History. Dr. Griffin currently serves as the Director of the Institute for Research in African-American Studies. Griffin also serves as a consultant to the Ford Foundation and the Modern Language Association where she chaired its Division of Black Literature.

We invite you to join us in celebrating another year of our conference and our organization, which both began in 1996 as means for Northwestern University’s graduate students to share experiences and research interests with their peers. The first conference consisted of a handful of students presenting their work in a supportive environment, and since that first meeting the conference has grown significantly.

Registration is free and the conference is open to the public.
Hotel accommodations are available at a reduced rate if overnight stay is required.*
* free for out of town presenters who register by 3/12/09.
Important Info:
Attend the conference for free!
