In Progress
GSA is a member of the Graduate Leadership Council, a body comprising graduate student representatives and administrators from both the Graduate School and the Office of Student Affairs. In this way, GSA serves to inform university administration of student needs and work to improve graduate student life. Current advocacy concerns include:
AFFORDABLE CHILDCARE: GSA is working with GLC to understand the needs of the graduate community in regards to childcare, and develop long term solutions that will improve graduate student access to childcare and decrease drop-out rates due to pregnancy. Contact Kate.
HEALTH INSURANCE: Contact Kate or Megan.

NEW GRIEVANCE GUIDE: Do you have problems? Take a look at the new guide to learn how to fix them.

UPASS - Paid for from the student activities fee. Allows for free admission on all CTA transportation.
I-GO CAR SHARING: If you would like a car only sometimes, but not all the time, I-GO is a good program to use. With I-GO, you can get a car for $6 per hour when you need it (plus 50 cents a mile), which __includes__ insurance AND gas. There's no hourly charge for use between 11PM and 7AM. A car can be picked up next to Garret Seminary (near Noyes & Sheridan) as well as at Main and Hinman or other locations around chicago (see map on i-go site, below). For short trips under 10 hours, I-GO is generally cheaper than renting a car, and is easier than renting a car. Northwestern students and employees can join the program for $25/year using the code D25NWU.
